Advertising on social media can be an amazing way to get the word out about your business. Many businesses both vanilla and adult count on social media networks to gain clients that they cannot physically advertise to. If you’re just starting out and have no clue on how to use Twitter or Instagram to effectively advertise your business, here are some pointers to get you started.

Hashtags Are Not Always Necessary

For years, many social media experts believed that hashtags were the best way for posts to be seen. While this may have been true several years ago, this doesn’t necessarily apply now. With shadowbanning on Twitter at an all-time high, it’s more important now than ever before, to not use as many hashtags. It’s honestly best to eliminate the use of them completely. With the search function on Twitter, you don’t have to use hashtags at all. Anything you put in a tweet is captured and is searchable on search engines.

Instagram, on the other hand, is a completely different beast. While it’s pretty easy to get shadowbanned, there are a few things you can do so your posts get seen.

Engage Your Audience

Engagement is extremely important for advertising on social media. You want your posts to pique the interest of potential customers. Do not constantly post about your business. Post motivational quotes, things you like to eat, hobbies you enjoy and make things exciting! When you do post about your business, mention sales you have going on, the background of your business, how you can help others, etc. Never just post “Go to www.blank.com to purchase my pictures.” Why would anyone click that link? You have to entice your audience and tap into their wants and desires.

Stay Active!

One of the most important things in advertising on social media is staying active. You want to post 2-3 times a day on each network, retweet others, and comment on others’ posts. Many do not do this(I’ve even been guilty of this), but staying active helps your business. By not posting to social media daily, you are not giving your followers anything to look at and eventually, they will lose interest.
